Lewiston Falls Academy, founded by Squire Edward Little in 1834.
In 1866, the name of the school was changed to Edward Little Institute
In 1874, the school was turned over to the City of Auburn and the named changed to Edward Little High School
A new school building (our building) was erected in 1929-30.
In 1943, the third floor of the old school was destroyed by fire. The old bell which called students to school for many years fell to the ground.
After the fire, the bell was in storage until 1962. This bell was purchased in 1885 to replace the bell from the burned Lewiston Falls Academy. The bell now stands at the New ELHS.
In 1948, to relieve crowded conditions, the city bought the Frank Stevens Building, that became known as the Annex.
